Clinical case
Laminectomy carried out successfully
Preoperative
Patient who comes to consultation due to severe pain in the legs, functional impotence and inability to stand for prolonged periods.
He suffers cramps in both calves and pain after five minutes of walking, which is followed by paresthesia in the third, fourth and fifth toes of the foot that makes it impossible to continue walking.
Operation
The surgery takes approximately two hours through the Portal of about 3 mm located in the back of the spine.
First we proceed to identification of the yellow ligament and to the identification of the upper and lower lamina that limit the interlaminar window.
A partial laminectomy in the superior lamina until the tip of the descending phase is identified. Its adequate release of the neurological structures on the right side is checked.
Subsequently, we proceed to identify the compression in the spinal canal. The removal of the yellow ligament from the central region begins to decompress the neurological structures.
Access is made to the contralateral side, through the same right posterior portal, to release the neurological structures on the left side and verify adequate release and decompression.
The exposed cure is covered using Lioplan.
Finally, local corticosteroids are infiltrated.
Postoperative
The surgery passed without incident and the postoperative period passed with a considerable improvement in lumbar pain and a feeling of liberation in the legs.
Starting half an hour after the intervention, the patient can walk normally and without incident. Hospital discharge is granted three hours after surgery.
