Clinical case
Foramidal disc herniation Josefa Carro
Preoperative
68-year-old patient, operated on 8/9 years ago between the 4th and 5th lumbar vertebra.
The discomfort has never completely disappeared, since the patient suffers from a particularly uncomfortable discomfort in his leg, which prevents him from leading a normal life.
After studying and reviewing the case in depth, a hernia recurrence that comes out where the nerve comes out.
Operation
Since he has already undergone a previous operation, the approach will be carried out from the side, with a minimum incision of 3mm, trying to remove the hernia.
Subsequently, a laser treatment will be performed to end the patient's pain.
After locating the hernia, it is removed using a minimally invasive endoscopy, which allows several fragments to be located near and under the nerve without damaging it.
Postoperative
After finishing the operation, lasting about 45 minutes, Doctor Elgeadi manages to free the foramen in the area where the hernia was located, so the nerve root is no longer compressed.
Given the previous operation, the patient had several scars that had to be avoided, making the operation difficult. A laser treatment has also been applied, thus eliminating the painful sensitivity he suffered in the posterior joints.
The patient will be able to go home the same afternoon, after showing no pain and being completely recovered from the operation a few hours later.
