Clinical case
Multiple cervical disc herniations
The patient presents several cervical disc herniations, with certain complications due to the osteoarthritis suffered in the area. They are reflected laterally
Preoperative
The patient has significant osteoarthritiss between the 4th and 7th vertebra, shows significant wear, with protrusions that worsen the disease he has.
The spine has a deformation due to osteoarthritis that makes movement difficult.
In the lateral section, several hernias are observed:
- A larger hernia between the 3rd and 4th cervical vertebrae
- Another smaller hernia between the 4th and 5th right vertebra in this case
- A last one between the 5th and 6th right, extended to the left
They are multilevel hernias, which are reflected in the patient with symptoms mainly on the right side.
Operation
After several hours of surgery, two mobile cervical prostheses are implanted in the patient, which will allow normal movement in the front and anteroposterior part.
The patient leaves the operating room and arrives at resuscitation without pain, with full mobility of his arms and neck.
Postoperative
You will spend the night in the hospital as a control, if everything goes correctly, you will be able to leave the next day at the hospital.
You will not need any additional treatment, except physiotherapy to completely recover movement in the area, thus strengthening the muscles and recovering flexibility in the joints.
