Recambio de prótesis de disco cervical

Clinical case

Clinical Case: Replacement of cervical disc prosthesis

This is a patient who had already undergone cervical disc prosthesis surgery, in which a subsequent release was not performed. Furthermore, the prosthesis was not placed correctly, which is causing symptoms in the digestive system, dysphagia, difficulty swallowing and neck pain.

Preoperative

The patient has already undergone surgery previously. Various tests are performed to check the condition of the implant and its placement.

Operation

During the intervention, the implant was removed, and the bed where the disc had been implanted was cleaned, cleaning the posterior part to remove the osteophytes and prevent them from causing compression on the spinal cord.

The marrow and its completely healthy tissue have been observed, and the roots have been freed. Finally, the largest mobile disc has been implanted to avoid displacement towards the anterior part.

Postoperative

It is a painless surgery. During the intervention, the patient is infiltrated with a local anesthetic and an anti-inflammatory. After the effects of the anesthesia end, the patient will be able to move her neck and after a few hours of observation and removing the drain, she will be discharged.

Recovery does not require special rest, simply avoiding overexertion, as well as sedentary postures.
