Caso clínico con retirada de Hernia lumbar L5S1 Izquierda

Clinical case

Lumbar disc herniation l5s1 left

The particularity of this case is that it is a mild hernia, which due to its location generated serious symptoms for the patient.

Like every case we receive in the consultation, it was analyzed precisely to find the best treatment.

Preoperative

A simple case in which the patient presents a small herniated disc, located between the fifth lumbar vertebra and the sacrum, located on the left side.

He suffers from paresthesia, pain in his left leg that reaches to his foot and prevents him from walking correctly and makes him uncomfortable.

Positive exploratory maneuvers, which could lead one to think that it is a large hernia, but the problem is that it is located right at the exit of the nerve from the canal.

Operation

On the MRI, we can see the compression caused by the hernia in the territory of the fifth root, and it will be done through a posterior interlaminar approach.

The root will be identified and mobilized so the hernia can be identified and removed.

Once the nerve is completely freed, using the minimally invasive spinal endoscopy technique, the small incision, about 3mm in the patient, will be closed.
