Clinical case
Endoscopy to remove herniated disc L5S1
The particularity of this case is that it is a mild hernia, which due to its location generated serious symptoms for the patient.
Like every case we receive in the consultation, it was analyzed precisely to find the best treatment.
Preoperative
The patient comes to the clinic with severe pain and motor problems in his left leg after having received a year of treatments and rehabilitation.
These pains are caused by compression of the passing and protruding root between lumbar vertebra 5 and the sacrum.
Operation
A 3 millimeter incision is made between the 5th lumbar vertebra and the sacrum and an emptying is carried out in the area of fibrosis to completely free the root.
A dissection of the L5 root is performed and subsequently its mobilization to identify the hernia.
Subsequently, using coagulation to prevent blood from hindering the process, the hernia and disc material are removed.
Postoperative
The patient is operated on with superficial sedation anesthesia through a minimal incision of between 2 and 3 millimeters, so he has immediate rehabilitation and is discharged in a few hours, being able to walk out of the hospital without any help.
