Clinical Case Surgery to remove central L5S1 disc herniation
In this case, the patient comes with symptoms of neurological involvement in the legs.
It is a case of minimally invasive surgery with endoscopy to eliminate the hernia and free the nerve roots.
Preoperative
The patient has previously undergone L5S1 surgery. Currently it has developed a herniated disc between the fourth and fifth vertebra, which produces canal stenosis and, therefore, compression of the neurological structures that extend along the legs.
Operation
A three millimeter incision is made and the canal is accessed. Once the level is located, a lateral x-ray is performed.
The area is cleaned, the yellow ligament is accessed in which a small window is opened, with the aim of mobilizing the neurological structures to access the disc.
Postoperative
The patient can walk at the end of the operation and is discharged in the hours after the operation.
You will have to attend periodic check-ups to check that recovery is developing normally.
