Cirugía mínimamente invasiva para extirpar hernia L5S1

Clinical case

Clinical Case minimally invasive surgery to remove herniated disc L5S1

The patient comes to the office with significant pain in the spine. It also causes pain in his right leg, specifically in the right gluteus, which progressively makes it impossible for him to go about his daily life.

There is compaction that compresses the root and conventional therapies such as rehabilitation and medical treatments have failed.

Preoperative

The patient has a pathology in the disc located between the fifth lumbar vertebra and the sacrum. He has a large hernia that occupies the right lateral recess and the exit of the nerve.

Operation

It is incised using a dilator that reaches directly to a window between one vertebra and another, and the cannula is placed on the same dilator.

In this way, a working channel of approximately 4 millimeters in diameter is obtained, through which a camera is introduced to solve this case. The right L5S1 neurological root is released, leaving the neurological structures completely freed. In addition, the entire canal and the left part are reviewed.
